If it’s been questioned in the past, it certainly won’t be questioned in the future… Naidex is the disability and independent living event. On the 25th & 26th April, the show returned for an incredible 44th edition, once again proving its significance in the sector. The event’s tireless pursuit of innovation and continued dedication to the care, rehabilitation and lifestyle of people with disabilities was evident throughout every corner of the show. Here’s why 2018’s event is being classified as the best Naidex in 10 years…
News of Naidex caught the attention of the entire disability sector, so it should come as no surprise that the event welcomed a colossal 12,517 visitors, including paralympians, figures of influence, celebrities and household names; even the one and only Warwick Davis made an appearance! The sheer number of visitors, along with the calibre of exhibitors created an undeniable buzz around the event, which was palpable throughout both days of the show until the doors closed at 5pm.
Across both days, attendees gained sought-after information, inspiration and guidance through the impressive lineup of 200 world-class speakers. Of particular interest was Sarah Newton’s seminar, in which visitors were hanging off her every word as she discussed work going on in Government to promote the development and use of innovations in independent living. Undoubtedly the most popular seminar of the day, the theatre was overflowing with excitement and anticipation.
Further to this, Naidex’s newest features proved to be a hit with visitors as the Moving & Handling Lab, Home, Design & Build Summit and Panel Debate area brimmed with attendees, eager to get involved in the never before seen interactive features.
Whilst the crowds moved amongst the ever popular theatres, there was still a huge number of visitors who were there for the sole purpose of meeting exhibitors and seeking new business opportunities, of which there was plenty! Visitors were treated to a plethora of futuristic technology, mobility solutions, healthcare and daily living essentials (to name just a few!).
The 44th edition of the show made a tremendous impact on the disability sector. For the first time in a decade, Naidex had reinstated trust in the hearts of its visitors and exhibitors. Trust that the event was back to providing the best products and services the industry had to offer. Trust that accessibility and inclusion was at the top of the show’s agenda. But more importantly, trust that the future of the disability sector is bright… Come see for yourself next year!
“Naidex is without a doubt the best show I have attended. The beauty of the event is that it brings so many different groups and organisations together in one place – the cross pollination of ideas and information keeps the hall buzzing from the moment you arrive util the train ride home and the days that follow (…) Naidex always keeps people with disabilities like me at the very heart of the show.” – Eleanor Dewar, Blue Assist UK
